From Grandma’s Country Kitchen — Baking Powder Biscuits


To 1 cup of flour take 1 teaspoon Calumet baking powder

1/4 teaspoon salt

2 tablespoons shortening

1/3 cup milk (about)

Sift flour once, measure. Add baking powder salt and sift again. Cut in shortening. Add milk gradually until soft dough is formed. Roll 1/2 inch thick on slightly floured board. Cut. Bake in hot oven (450 degrees) 15 minutes. 1 cup makes 6 biscuits.
