From Grandma’s Country Kitchen — Pie Crusts


2 cups sifted all-purpose flour

1/3 teaspoon Calumet baking powder

1/2 teaspoon salt

1/2 cup cold shortening

Cold water

Sift flour once, measure.

Add baking powder and salt.

Sift three times

Cut in shortening until mixture looks like meal.

Add water a little at a time, mixing until dough cleans bowl of all flour. Use little water as possible. Roll dough 1/8″ thick on slightly floured board.

Bake in hot oven. (450 degrees) for 15 minutes.
