From Grandma’s Country Kitchen — Peanut Blossoms

These cookies are my favorite of all cookies. My grandma used to make these every year at butchering time and again at Christmas.

She used to store them in her bedroom because it was always cooler in there. I’d sneak into the room and eat them. I don’t know how she always knew some cookies were missing. There were dozens of them.

Here’s the recipe. I hope you enjoy them as much as I do!


1 cup white sugar

1 cup brown sugar, packed

1 cup peanut butter

1 cup butter

2 eggs

1/4 cup milk

2 teaspoons vanilla

3 1/2 cups all-purpose flour

2 teaspoons baking soda

1 teaspoon salt

Chocolate bits for top of cookies.

Cream sugars, butter, and peanut butter together. Beat in eggs, milk and vanilla. Sift flour, baking soda and salt together. Stir into cookie batter. Chill for best results. Shape into balls about walnut size. Bake on ungreased cookie sheets at 375 degrees for 10-12 minutes. Press chocolate in center of each cookie while still hot.
